Kapitalbank hosted another edition of its corporate chess tournament, Kapitalbank Chess, bringing together bank employees around intellectual competition and strategic thinking. The event took place at the International Chess Academy under the Ministry of Sports in partnership with the Uzbekistan Corporate Sports Association as part of the existing memorandum of cooperation.

The official opening ceremony of the Kapitalbank Chess tournament was conducted by Komil Sindarov — Vice Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, Doctor of Sciences, and Professor. He delivered a welcoming speech and officially launched the competition together with Oksana Lyndina, Advisor to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kapitalbank.

Kapitalbank Chess became another corporate championship in the series of quarterly competitions and was held according to the classical Swiss system consisting of seven rounds. This format provided all participants with equal opportunities to demonstrate their skills throughout the tournament. With a time control of 10 minutes per game, the competition proved especially dynamic, requiring concentration, composure, and the ability to make quick decisions.

The event forms part of the Kapitalbank People Strategy aimed at promoting mass sports participation and supporting an active lifestyle among employees. The program, supported by Maksud Abdusamadov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, includes seven disciplines: participation in running marathons (with the corporate team remaining the largest in Uzbekistan in recent years), table tennis, chess, football, volleyball, basketball, and esports. In addition, bank employees take part in fitness standards assessments similar to the GTO format, fostering a culture of physical activity and team spirit.

“Chess develops strategic and analytical thinking, concentration, and attention to detail — a set of competencies that are especially important in the banking sector. That is why Kapitalbank regularly organizes such tournaments, supporting a culture of intellectual development and healthy competition,” noted Oksana Lyndina, Adviser to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSCB Kapitalbank.

Following the seven rounds, the winners and prize holders of the tournament were determined, demonstrating a high level of preparation and confident play. At the same time, Kapitalbank Chess served not only as an intellectual competition, but also as a platform for strengthening internal communication among employees from different divisions.
